Lunar eclipse of February 20, 2008.

sadasiva | Forecasts | Thursday, February 21st, 2008

Lunar eclipse of February 20, 2008.

This eclipse takes place in the sign of Leo. This full moon is joined both South node and the planet Saturn. There’s been a lot of activity around Saturn for the last couple of years. This Saturn/South node conjunction has been very important in shaping not only our collective world but our individual commitments and personal drives as well. I’ve been writing about this important placement for over a year, since November 2006.

Most recently I called quite a lot of attention to the potentially auspicious relationship of Jupiter and Saturn. You can reference this article called “Jupiter and Saturn, Self image, and Career Growth”.
more about that later.

In that article I discuss the amazing potential of this year and the blessings that the trinal relationship of Jupiter and Saturn portend for those courageous enough to step up their commitment level to a dream worthy of their efforts - their highest dream and vision for themselves. Why am I discussing this article in reference to this lunar eclipse? Because in many ways this lunar eclipse shows a psychological point of closure around the issues that began in November 2006 - when Saturn and Ketu first entered Leo. Everything in astrology is cycles. An observant astrologer will recognize the cycles as opportunities for growth or peril. Do any of us doubt the important choices before us right now in the world? A changing of the guard is possible, yet the same old nagging fears tempt stagnation.

This past week has seen the old regime in Pakistan lose the popular election, raising the stakes on democracy in that important country - one of our main allies in the “War on Terror”. At the same time we’ve seen the former Serbian province of Kosovo declare independence amidst celebrations on one hand and smoldering resentments on the other. Meanwhile, we see a shocking continuation of random shootings of innocents in schools in our country. With looming recessions, billions of dollars a month being spent on an uncertain war, a fascinating political season has captured everyone’s attention as well.

This global stage mirrors our personal one. Our personal strongholds no longer provide the comfort and security we had grown accustomed. It is not possible to just sit back and let things take care of themselves. We must make a decision or else others will decide our fate for us. This is what I have been describing since November 2006. The South node and Saturn will pressure the very heart of governmental power and personal power in the world. By the end of it we will be forced to make a commitment toward a course of action that is either inspiring and uplifting or in defense of a worn-out paradigm that we may no longer be able to embrace, either personally or politically.

This lunar eclipse occurred with the Moon at 8° sidereal Leo. The South node is at 4° Leo, Saturn is retrograde at almost 12° Leo. The deepest eclipse point occurred with the moon exactly between Saturn and the South node. So, what does this mean?

The Moon is our psychological nature, the reflection of the undifferentiated Self (ParamAtman - Sun) onto consciousness (JivAtman - Moon). We cannot perceive our true self directly, we must experience its reflection through the agency of consciousness — our mind and our intuitive, feeling nature — the Moon. In Vedic astrology the moon is of utmost importance because of this. Although the Sun has the activating potential, the moon is our feeling nature and our instinctive emotional intuition. For the most part, we are feeling creatures, not thinking ones. We think a little bit, but not very much. Most of the decisions we make are based on how we feel, not what is the most logical, rational, or even best for us. Stated simply, we do what we feel like doing, almost 100% of the time. These feelings come from the Moon astrologically.

This eclipse of the moon brings the “Saturn/South node in Leo Transit / Cycle” into the fertile ground of consciousness, like none other before it. The moon is the part of us that wants to merge with everything and integrate everything evenly. Saturn is like the practical old man who has been around and seen it all. He’s going to give it to you straight whether you want to hear it or not. The South node is like one who has renounced the world and is somewhat fed up with it. Each one of us has a place deep inside ourselves that is not of this Earth and does not care about worldly success, making others happy, or many of the other trinkets of the ego that keep us endlessly fascinated. There’s a huge opportunity now to tap into that formless source of core power that only serves truth — the truth of existence. The funny thing is, in this case it doesn’t have to do with renouncing the world, it has to do with committing to it - in fact making the deepest commitment possible to your power in the world. This because of Saturn. The planet of our long-term commitments, and the planet of our fears. Wherever we are on the fear / acceptance path we will decide. If we are far along on the that path we will flourish, if not we may flounder.

I can share a personal story about this. After I wrote the article that I referenced above, I decided to teach some free astrology classes. At the time I really did not have a big vision about where I wanted them to go, except that I wanted to start a new series of classes. I also knew it was time to step up my commitment level even though certain personal confidence issues, enemies and competitors and familiar blocks were bringing about some hesitation (My astrology transits are like few i have seen recently). So the next day I announced that I would be teaching a series of free classes. From there a vision began to take shape that has transformed my entire career as an astrologer. At the time I had no idea it would, but it has. To make a long story short, it not only set forth in motion a highly successful group of classes, but also the process of doing this has clarified my commitment to formally establishing an approach to astrology called “Universal Astrology”. Actually I’ve been practicing Universal Astrology from the beginning, but did not realize it. Anyway, more about that later.

My point is this. As an astrologer I see these potentials and try to let others know about them if I can. But day to day I’m just living my life - just like you. I don’t plan my entire life out based on astrology — although I do pick auspicious times to do things. I live as spontaneously as the next person. When I went back and read the things I had written about “making a commitment to our true vision and having the courage to do so, etc.” on January 22, 2008, I realize that is what I had just done, even though in the present moment I was just following my inspiration. Amazingly this article coincided with the changing of my Mercury Dasa to my Ketu Dasa based on the calculations i use - TO THE DAY!! - That is 1 day in a lifetime that a 17 year cycle shifts - nailed. I had not even realized it until a few days ago.

There was a great analogy in the movie “The Secret”, where Jack Canfield, the author of the “Chicken Soup for The Soul” books makes the analogy of driving across country with your headlights on in the dark. The analogy goes like this. You don’t need to see the entire path for you in order to start on your journey. You can drive all the way across the country in the dark with your headlights only illuminating 20 feet ahead of you at any given time. Yet, if you stay on the road eventually you get to your destination. That is sort of what has recently happened with me. Although I have by no means reached my destination, I’m pretty stunned that I added a couple thousand dollars in my bank account, 25 loyal, hungry and dedicated astrology students - and a growing community that is interested in learning more about astrology and hopefully my approach to it.

All of this happened because I inadvertently follow my own astrology advice. Even in the midst of several pretty stupid blunders!! - but we’ll leave that for next time.

Best Wishes,
Sadasiva

Dangerous Week Ahead - 12/15/2007

sadasiva | Forecasts | Sunday, December 16th, 2007

Hello Astrology Friends,

Both the Sun and Mercury changed signs Saturday / into Sunday (Sidereal Zodiac). They moved from Scorpio to Sagittarius. When planets change signs their energies become weak. it is analgous to when we are moving into a new house. All of our bags are packed and we are in transition. half here and half there. At these times unpredictable thinggs can happen. Astrologically these transitions are more crucial at the juncture between water and fire signs, like the Scorpio/Sagittarius juncture. This is because there is not Nakshatra (Star) energy to bridge the transition, likw what happens as a planet moves from other elements. Between cancer / Leo - Scorpio ? Sagittarius and Pisces / Aries not only does the signs change, the nakshatra also changes and the planet passes through a void like state called “gandantha”.

With both Mercury and the Sun passing throiugh this vulnerable point tonight and into tomorrow at the same time the possibility of unpredictable events is high. This may show in accidents, criminal behavior, suicides, sudden deaths on a personal level.

Furthermore, i sense the real poosibility of some calamity in the next few days. Especially as it relates to explosions - assassinations, terrorist type / War-like events. This is due to several factors.

1) Mars is retrograde in the nakshatra of Ardra, a destructive nakshatra ruled by Rahu and related to lord Siva, the destroyer. Ardra is one of the most destructive nakshatras.

2) Jupiter, Sun, Mercury and the Western planetoid Pluto will be aspecting from Mula Nakshatra. Mula is ruled by Ketu and related to the vedic God Kali (called nirriti or “calamity” in the Rg Veda).

3) Adding to this is the severe combustion of Jupiter, Mercury and Pluto. Combustion makes for a sensitive “flash point” type mentality that lacks patience and discrimination.

On 9/11/2001 the sky was dominated by similar planets in these nakshatras.

I do not like to make these type of predictions and I am never unhappy when they are wrong. Yet, I have had people comment that they want me to continue with them, not only because of a certain “level of preparedness” factor, but also because it gives them faith that things are happening in hte universe the way they are supposed to. This is also my feeling and approach. Nothing that happens in the world or to you is wrong or bad. Nothing in Astrology should scare you. If it does scare you that should be a wake up call to strengthen your fears, not blame the world, astrology or shoot the messenger (stepping down from soapbox).

Having said that, i want everyone to be happy, free of fear, abiding in calm and patience. Be extra careful with loved ones and those fragile hearts you know (including your own). The best way to feel better and get out of your funk is to help someone else. Now as always (or perhaps more than ever) the world needs your service, prayers, love and light.

Best wishes,
sadasiva

mars rahu ardra Divine Amma

sadasiva | Forecasts | Saturday, November 3rd, 2007
Dear  {!name},

I had quite a powerful experience this week. For the first time I was in the presence of Divine Amma, the embodiment of Pratyagiri Devi. Amma and her husband, Swamiji are from Singapore. When Amma was a young girl she began to receive visits from this obscure and powerful form of the Goddess, Pratyangiri Devi. Although married and with two children, Amma and her husband travel the world now giving Darshan (blessings) to devotees. Swamiji is a master pujari (one who performs fire ceremonies, like a priest), while Amma goes into the form of Pratyangiri Devi. And I will tell you, it is a wild transformation to behold.

The form of Pratyangiri Devi, is described as a “very swift and sometimes ferocious current. Many of the Saints who’ve seen it’s energetic expression have described it as half lion and half human. The lion head is that of a male and the body is that of a female, representing the union of Shiva and Shakti. In her full form, she is humongous, with 1008 heads (symbolically representing the 1008-petalled Sahasrara Chakra, the universal chakra of the cosmic energy) and 2016 hands, riding majestically on a chariot pulled by 4 lions (representing the 4 Vedas), carrying many swords for removing obstacles. The jaws of so many lions makes it very powerful for destroying negative karmas, and a great blessing for anyone on a spiritual path.”

See her form represented here:
http://www.ekatvam.org/links/sri-maha-pratyangira-devi.html

What I find so fascinating about this goddess is not only her incredibly powerful form, but the body through which he is manifested.
http://www.ekatvam.org/pictures/index.php has pictures of Amma, the Singapore woman through which Pratyagiri Devi manifests. You will see that Amma is a striking woman, She resembles a lion herself. A very wide mouth, large prominent teeth and incredibly large and bulging eyes overcome her human form when Pratyangiri Devi manifests - Oh yes, and also an incredibly long tongue.

Amma and Swamiji will continue a US tour which includes Hawaii. I strongly encourage you to spend some time with these two amazing beings. The most profound the quality of being in their presence, besides seeing this powerful form of the Goddess manifest, is seeing this man and woman as the living embodiment of Shiva and Shakti. Swamiji does puja to Amma, which brings forth the Devi. Yet, Amma also bows to the feet of Swamiji who is, in many ways, the originator of the current itself.

To illustrate how powerful Amma and Swamiji are, as soon as Goddess Durga was invoked at the Puja Ceremony on Tuesday we had a little earthquake. Devi shook the ground to let us know she was watching.. It was Incredible!!
Plus, they are extremely friendly, accessible and down to earth people. Their natural, humble, yet divine presence is an opportunity for inspiration and remembrance for us all - We too are divine beings. If you have the chance to do the retreat with them especially, a day long immersion in the teachings, you will be blown away.

So all of this is related to astrology. On Tuesday I attended the retreat of Amma and Swamiji in Santa Cruz. Approximately 11:30 - 11:45 there was an exact conjunction between the Moon and Mars in the Nakshatra of Ardra. On this day in particular, the bhava of this goddess was so incredibly fierce - even somewhat frightening. Amma herself was a bit apprehensive revealing such a raw and unhinged face of the Goddess. Several in attendance who have been with Amma many, many times report that they have only seen the bhava this fierce maybe one or two other times.

I checked the astrology chart before I went that day, knowing there was going to be this rare exact conjunction right at the time the program was starting. The Moon and Mars will only cross in Ardra Nakshatra perhaps once every two years. This year it will happen more because Mars will go retrograde and forward in this Nakshatra. So, I was kind of prepared for an intense day, but I had no idea. It is difficult to convey in words exactly what happens when Amma merges with Pratyangiri Devi. But suffice to say, it is like nothing you have ever witnessed before - on Tuesday it was even more ferocious. I didn’t think a body could push that much energy.

Here is an image of the astrology chart of the moment when the Devi Bhava occured. Look at the large arrows pointing to the degrees of the Moon (Mo) and Mars (Ma) in the sign of Gemini. Notice the exact conjunction at 16 degrees of arc. (and seconds)

Above each planet you see “Ard” , which means Ardra, the nakshatra (star).

Ardra nakshatra is ruled by Rudra, the fierce form of Siva, the original, Vedic form (Siva is a Puranic Deity). This same star is called Betelgeuse in the West. Interestingly i just made a video about Ardra nakshatra as it is related to the California fires. Mars in Ardra is a main reason why that has happened.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8HmsK1YE2cA

Although the deity related to Ardra is Rudra, the planetary ruler is Rahu, the north node - the head of the Serpent. (The Kundalini)

The Moon is Devi, the mother - the feminine aspect of God - Shakti
The Sun is the masculine aspect of God, the father - Siva

This conjunction of the Moon and Mars in Ardra brought about this fierce power of Devi and also the Lion form of Narasimha (Narasimhi in the feminine). Mars is the indicator of the God narasimha, the Lion.

Each of the  Planets refer to one of the Visnu avatars,
Sun - Lord Rama
Moon - Krsna
mars - Narasimha
mercury-Buddha
Jupiter - Vamana
Venus-Parsurama
Saturn-Kurmasana
Rahu - varaha
Ketu-matsya

california fires - Ardra nakshatra

sadasiva | Forecasts | Friday, October 26th, 2007

I posted a video analysis of the Cali Fires and also showed the prominence of Ardra Nakshatra in destructive events.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8HmsK1YE2cA

The Nakshatras are the 27 fold portion of the Zodiac used in Vedic Astrology. This 27 (or 28) fold zodiac refers to the mean daily motion of the Moon. Each day it occupies a different Nakshatra - Also called the wives of the Moon.

Ardra is the Western star Betlegeuse.

You’ll see in the video the prominence of Ardra in

Civil War - Sun
WWW 2 (Pearl Harbor) - Rahu
Korean War - Sun
Vietnam War (Gulf of Tonkin resolution) - Rahu, Venus, Mars
911 - Rahu, Jupiter, Moon
Tsunami of 2004 - Moon
Hurricane Katrina - Moon

These are only the events i looked for.

Now that Mars is in Ardra and will be going forward and retro for a while, . umm does not look too good and boy, i hate to say that. Jupiter will enter Sag and aspect in early November though.

Look at a few recent things that have happened with potential long-term War like effects since Mars entered Ardra.

* Congress enrages Turkey with the Armenia proposal. Turkey attacked Kurdish Iraq today and has threatened consequences for this.

* Major unrest in Pakistan. As much as we are worried about Iran getting nukes, Pakistan already has them and also has plenty of fundamentalists.

We can all help ourselves and the world by doing our regular spiritual sadhana and keeping a loving and open heart to all who suffer - all we love and all we have a tendency to blame. Political figures especially are favored scapegoats.

Blessings and Many Best Wishes,

Sam
